I’m not big on broad labels. I like to think I can fall into many different crowds and span vastly different interest areas. I’m really just trying to live my life as a good person.

I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in Art and Mass Communications as well as a certificate in Data Analytics and Visualization. I spent nearly a decade in the journalism field – winning two regional Emmy awards and a Hearst Award, as well as being published worldwide – and am now a data engineer with Principal Financial Group. I enjoy working in Python, JavaScript and HTML + CSS and think my unique background gives me a more creative approach to solving problems. I love learning about new technology, how things are made and am an extreme Do-It-Yourself-er.

I’m married to Molly Kalda, a brilliant nurse, and we reside in South Minneapolis, MN with our dog Fitzgerald.
